From self-custody back into fiat.
Selling is the mirror image of buying: move RVN to an exchange, place an order, withdraw fiat. The friction is mostly in withdrawal limits and tax reporting.
Sell RVN safely.
- 01
Pick the exchange
Use one that supports RVN/fiat or RVN/USDT and accepts withdrawals to your bank or card. - 02
Get the deposit address
Generate an RVN deposit address on the exchange. Confirm the network — RVN is its own chain, not an ERC-20 token. - 03
Send a small test
From Electrum RVN, send a small test deposit and wait for it to credit before sending the rest. - 04
Place the sell order
Limit orders give you control over the price you accept. Watch the order book for liquidity at your target. - 05
Withdraw fiat
Choose a withdrawal method that matches your bank. Some exchanges throttle large fiat withdrawals for review. - 06
Record the trade
Keep records — taxable jurisdictions usually treat each sell as a taxable event with a cost-basis calculation.
Cashing out RVN: paths, costs, and pitfalls.
There is no one-click sell button — RVN goes from your wallet, to an exchange, to a fiat order, to your bank. Each hop has its own fees and its own failure modes. The good news: the workflow is the same every time, so it only takes one careful pass to learn.
Move RVN to an exchange that offers an RVN-to-USD pair (or RVN-to-USDT plus USDT-to-USD), place a limit order, and withdraw USD by ACH or wire to your bank.
The all-in cost is the exchange's spot trading fee, the spread on the RVN pair, any USDT→USD conversion fee, and the fiat withdrawal fee. For US sellers, ACH is usually free or near-free but slow; wires clear same-day for a fixed fee, often $15–$25. For larger sums the wire fee is a rounding error and the speed is worth it.
How to sell Ravencoin for cash
"Cash" in practice usually means a bank deposit. Direct cash-in-hand sales happen through peer-to-peer marketplaces or local-meetup channels, but counterparty risk is real and the premium rarely justifies it. For most sellers the practical answer is: sell on a reputable exchange into USD/EUR/your local currency, withdraw to your bank, then withdraw cash from the bank as needed.
On Binance International, deposit RVN to your account's RVN deposit address (the deposit page must show "Ravencoin (RVN)" as the network). Once credited, place a limit sell on RVN/USDT or RVN/BTC. From there, convert into the fiat or stablecoin you want, and withdraw. Confirm the withdrawal method matches your bank's accepted formats before you commit.
You can't sell RVN inside Trust Wallet directly because Trust Wallet does not support the Ravencoin chain. The workflow is the same as for any non-supported chain: send RVN from a Ravencoin wallet (such as Electrum RVN) to an exchange that lists RVN, sell there, and withdraw fiat. Trust Wallet's in-app swap features do not include the Ravencoin network.
Tax and record-keeping basics
- Each sell is usually a disposal event with a capital-gain or capital-loss line item.
- Cost basis = what you paid for the RVN you're selling, including the original purchase fees.
- Keep export CSVs from the exchange and from the wallet's transaction history.
- Mining payouts often have a separate income-at-receipt treatment in addition to the later disposal.
- Rules vary wildly by country — consult a local tax professional for amounts that matter.
The same exchanges that list RVN for buying generally list it for selling, on the same pairs. Picking a venue is mostly about fees, withdrawal options, and where you want the fiat to land. If you bought on an exchange and never moved the RVN to self-custody, selling there is the shortest path. If you're selling from a long-held cold- storage balance, expect to send the RVN to the exchange deposit address first, wait for confirmations, then execute the sell.
Peer-to-peer venues and atomic-swap protocols let you sell RVN directly to another party for another coin or for fiat via an escrowed payment rail. This avoids exchange-side KYC and custody risk but typically gives up on tight pricing and instant settlement. Use it for situations where anonymity or jurisdictional constraints matter more than convenience.
