Run from a clean profile
First run creates a fresh wallet file. Generate a new seed phrase and back it up offline before sending any RVN. - 03

Before moving a large balance, send a small test transaction: create a receive address, transfer a few RVN, and wait for confirmations. If everything looks right, proceed with confidence. - 04
Close other wallets and check your firewall
Running two Ravencoin wallets on the same machine can cause confusion. Close any other wallet software first, and allow Electrum RVN through your firewall if prompted — it needs network access to sync.
What the download contains and how to install it.
Each release is a single installer per operating system. No bundled toolbars, no telemetry, no auto-updater. You fetch a build, install it, and run it — the whole process should take under five minutes on any modern machine.
One installer per platform. That is the entire release surface.
The Windows download is an .exe installer. The macOS download is a notarised .dmg universal build that runs natively on Apple Silicon and Intel. The Linux download is a.zip archive that runs on most distributions without root, package managers, or dependency installation. There is no separate "lite" or "pro" edition — every user gets the same wallet, the same features, and the same source code. New here? How to install on Windows
Double-click the .exe file. Windows SmartScreen may warn about an unrecognised publisher on the first run of a new release — this is expected for independent builds. Click "More info → Run anyway". The installer drops a shortcut on the Start menu and creates the wallet data directory under%APPDATA%\Electrum-RVN.
Open the .dmg and drag the application into theApplications folder. On first launch macOS Gatekeeper asks for confirmation because the build was downloaded from outside the App Store; this is normal. Wallet data lives under~/Library/Application Support/Electrum-RVN. The build is universal — Apple Silicon machines run it natively, Intel Macs run the same binary without Rosetta.
Extract the ZIP archive and run the binary directly. No package install, no root, no dependency hunt. The wallet data directory is ~/.electrum-rvn.

- There is no auto-updater — you fetch a new build from this page and replace the binary yourself.
- Uninstall is a normal OS uninstall; back up the seed phrase before removing anything.
Updating to a new release
When a new version ships, fetch the installer from this page and install over the previous one. Your wallet file, address history, and asset balances live in the data directory, not the install directory — upgrading the binary never touches them. Even so: before a major version bump, copy your wallet file and confirm you still have the 12-word seed phrase written down.
The wallet itself is open source, light-client, non-custodial, and reproducibly built. The risk surface is almost entirely about where you got the binary and how you store the seed.
Downloads from search ads, "wallet aggregator" sites, and random mirrors are the single largest source of stolen Ravencoin funds — attackers ship a working clone with one extra line that exfiltrates the seed phrase on first use. Fetching the build directly from this page removes that risk. Pair the wallet with a hardware signer (Ledger or Trezor) for larger balances and the private keys never touch the desktop machine at all.
The wallet is intentionally lightweight. Any machine that can run a current browser will run it comfortably: Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit), macOS 12 Monterey or later on Apple Silicon or Intel, or a recent mainstream Linux distribution. About 200 MB of disk is enough for the application and a few wallet files; the wallet does not download the Ravencoin blockchain, so disk requirements stay small for the life of the install.
